The Lake District is England’s largest National Park and features stunning scenery from low down beautiful an easy-to-access Lakes up to high-up mountain views stretching for miles. It is also home to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike at 978m and is a popular mountain and part of the National Three Peaks Challenge.
Did you know that the Lake District only has one lake despite it’s name? This is Bassenthwaite Lake near Keswick, the rest are actually Mere’s or Water’s such as Windermere or Derwent Water.
If you are feeling intrepid, there are 214 Wainwrights in the Lake District to climb. Wainwrights were created by Alfred Wainwright in his pictorial guidebooks to the Lake District. These are regularly summits of mountains but also viewpoints below summits.
Of course, this means there’s plenty of photography to take advantage of in the Lake District. Stunning scenes await you throughout the year, through the seasons and the ever changing weather of the area.
