Lake District Photography Workshop: A Four-Day Exploration of Stunning Landscapes – 25th to 28th September 2025
Join me for an unforgettable four-day photography workshop in the heart of the Lake District, where we’ll capture the breathtaking beauty of this iconic National Park. From the 25th to the 28th of September 2025, we’ll immerse ourselves in the diverse landscapes, capturing stunning mountain vistas, tranquil lakeside scenes, dramatic waterfalls, and picturesque tarns.
Why the Lake District?
The Lake District is a photographer’s paradise, offering a diverse range of landscapes, from rugged mountains and cascading waterfalls to serene lakes and charming villages. This workshop will allow you to experience the full spectrum of the Lake District’s beauty, capturing its essence through your lens.
Our Photographic Journey:
- Easy-Access Locations: This workshop is designed with accessibility in mind, focusing on locations that offer stunning views with minimal walking. However, if the group is keen on a more challenging hike, we can certainly explore some of the higher and more remote areas.
- Diverse Landscapes: We’ll visit a variety of locations, including:
- Iconic waterfalls: Aira Force, Stock Ghyll Force, and the cascades of Deepdale.
- Picturesque lakes: Ullswater, Derwentwater, Brothers Water, Buttermere, Coniston Water, and Wast Water.
- Stunning viewpoints: Walla Crag, Surprise View, Latrigg, Ashness Bridge, Tewet Tarn, Blea Tarn, Tarn Hows, Cathedral Cavern, and more., and Castlerigg Stone Circle.
- Flexible Itinerary: Our itinerary will be adapted based on the weather and the group’s preferences, ensuring we make the most of our time in the Lake District.
Our Home Base:
- Self-Catering Cottage: We’ll be staying in a comfortable self-catering cottage in Hartsop, a central location with easy access to many of the Lake District’s most iconic locations.
- Amenities and Comfort: The cottage offers all the amenities you’ll need, including Wi-Fi, a washing machine, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious lounge for relaxation and post-processing.
- Flexible Dining: The self-catering arrangement allows for flexibility in meal times and catering to dietary requirements. You can cook your own meals, collaborate with others in the group, or enjoy dining out at local pubs and restaurants.
A Typical Day:
- Sunrise and Sunset Shoots: We’ll focus on capturing the magical light of sunrise and sunset, visiting different locations each day to make the most of the golden hour.
- Daytime Exploration: During the day, we’ll have time to explore additional locations, relax at the cottage, review our images, and learn post-processing techniques.
- Flexible Schedule: The daily schedule will be adapted based on the weather and the group’s preferences, allowing for a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Weather Contingency:
The Lake District weather can be unpredictable, but I’m well-versed in adapting to different conditions. We’ll make the most of the available light and explore alternative locations if needed, ensuring a rewarding experience regardless of the weather.

This workshop is designed to be accessible to a wide range of fitness levels, but it’s important to be aware of the walking involved and the nature of the terrain.
Walking Distance:
- You can expect to walk between 3 and 6 miles throughout the day, spread out with breaks between locations.
Terrain:
- Most locations are a short distance from the car park, typically around 15 minutes each way.
- While some paths are paved, you’ll also encounter natural trails with stable surfaces. These may include rocks, tree roots, and mud, which are natural features of the landscape.
- Some sections may involve walking over steep or uneven ground, so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.

- We may venture off the main path at certain photography locations. I will point out any potential hazards, but please be mindful of your footing and surroundings. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Key Points:
- While individual locations are relatively easy to access, the cumulative distance covered throughout the day can be significant.
- Please assess your own fitness level and comfort with walking over varied terrain before booking.
- This workshop is designed to be enjoyable and accessible to those with a reasonable level of fitness.
