Mam Tor and Castleton Photography Viewpoints – 20th December
Join me on a photography day from sunrise to sunset through the heart of the Peak District on December 20th. We’ll explore the stunning landscapes surrounding the charming village of Castleton, capturing dramatic views, unique geological formations, and the beauty of the winter light.
Why Castleton?
Castleton is a photographer’s dream, offering easy access to some of the Peak District’s most iconic locations. From the dramatic heights of Mam Tor and Winnats Pass to the picturesque valleys of Pindale and Cave Dale, this area provides a diverse range of subjects for photographers of all levels.
Our Photographic Journey:
- Sunrise at Mam Tor: We’ll begin our day with a breathtaking sunrise at Mam Tor, a classic Peak District viewpoint offering panoramic views of the Great Ridge, Edale, and Castleton.
- Winnats Pass: Next, we’ll explore the dramatic Winnats Pass, a winding road that cuts through a deep limestone gorge. We’ll capture the unique geological formations and the contrasting textures of the landscape.
- Pindale and Cave Dale: We’ll then venture to the picturesque valleys of Pindale and Cave Dale, each offering unique perspectives and photographic opportunities. Pindale provides a different angle on the Hope Valley, while Cave Dale is dominated by the imposing Peveril Castle.
- Waterfalls and Woodlands: If the weather isn’t ideal for high-level photography, we’ll explore alternative locations, capturing the beauty of the Peak District’s waterfalls and woodlands.
- Sunset at Stanage Edge or Higger Tor: As the day draws to a close, we’ll head to either Stanage Edge or Higger Tor, two iconic gritstone edges that offer stunning sunset views.
