Snowdonia Mountain Photography Workshop: Sunset Summit Special – 27th April
Join me on the 27th of April for a unique mountain photography experience in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. We’ll ascend to a stunning viewpoint to capture the beauty of a mountain sunset, learning valuable skills and creating breathtaking images along the way.
Designed for Adventurous Photographers:
This workshop is perfect for those who want to experience the thrill of mountain photography without the commitment of wild camping. We’ll hike up to a beautiful summit or viewpoint, capture the sunset, and descend with the aid of head torches.
A Different Perspective:
This workshop offers a distinct experience from my Glyderau workshop on the 26th of April. You can even book both and enjoy a full weekend of mountain photography adventures! This workshop is designed to be less physically demanding than the Glyderau adventure, with a shorter descent after sunset.
What to Expect:
- Introduction: Start off with a low down location, potentially a waterfall to settle in and get to know each other and our abilities.
- Mountain Ascent: We’ll spend the afternoon ascending to a carefully chosen summit or viewpoint, such as the start of the Nantlle Ridge, Carnedd Y Filliast, or Y Aran. The exact location will depend on the weather conditions and the group’s preferences.
- Stunning Sunset: Witness a breathtaking sunset from a unique perspective, capturing the beauty of the mountains bathed in golden light.
- Skills Development: Learn essential mountain photography techniques, including planning, risk assessment, composition, working with light, and using filters.
- Expert Guidance: Benefit from my experience as a photographer and qualified Mountain Leader, ensuring your safety and providing valuable insights throughout the day.
- Early Evening: We’ll begin our descent after sunset, using head torches to navigate the mountain path.
Important Considerations:
- Fitness: You should be comfortable with walking at least 5 miles with around 3000ft of ascent. Some prior hillwalking experience or above-average fitness is recommended.
- Darkness: Be prepared to walk in mountainous terrain after dark. A good head torch is essential.
- Flexibility: Our plans may change depending on weather conditions and photographic opportunities.
- Time on Camera: We’ll prioritise reaching the summit for sunset, so there will be less time dedicated to camera techniques compared to other workshops.
What You’ll Learn:
- Mountain Photography: Gain insights into planning mountain trips, assessing risks, and capturing stunning images in challenging environments.
- Technical Skills: Refine your focusing, tripod usage, filter application, exposure blending, composition, and working with light.
- Mountain Leadership: Benefit from my expertise as a qualified Mountain Leader, ensuring your safety and providing guidance throughout the day.
Additional Information:
- Meeting Point: We’ll meet in Snowdonia (exact location will be provided upon booking).
- Group Size: Maximum 4 participants for personalized attention.
- Finish Time: Estimated at 10:00 PM, but please allow flexibility for the descent.
- Included: Expert tuition, transport during the workshop, kit list, discount codes, and a pre-workshop questionnaire.
