Today’s blog comes from the curiously named Water-Cum-Jolly. A little dale below the Monsal Trail near the hamlet of Cressbrook. I’m not sure where Water-Cum-Jolly gets its name from but its a great place to spend a calm summers evening.

The little dale hosts a mill pond which is dammed at one end ensuring that the River Wye which runs through it fills the dale. On a calm summers evening the pond often reflects its surroundings from the lush green trees to the blue cloudy skies. Often, you’ll find climbers on Rubicon Wall around the rim of the dale and is reputed to be one of the hardest sport climbs in the Peak.

If you do ever visit though, careful after heavy rain as the path actually becomes pretty impassible.
